More Than a Name – A Legacy of Love

Mama Coyo's Mexican Restaurant is named after the owner's grandmother — a woman whose cooking, warmth, and spirit are the heart of everything the restaurant stands for. When a brand carries that kind of personal meaning, the design has to honor it.

Grey Dove Designs was brought in at the very beginning — before the doors opened, before the first customer walked in — to build the visual identity that would introduce Mama Coyo's to Huntingdon County and beyond. The logo, favicon, and launch social media assets were all created to capture the vibrant, authentic spirit of the restaurant while reflecting the deep family roots behind the name.

The result is a brand that feels festive and alive, rooted in Mexican folk art tradition — folk floral patterns, bold sky-blue typography, and a warmth that makes you feel welcomed before you even step inside.

Every creative decision asked the same question: does this feel like a fiesta? Does it make you hungry? Does it feel like Mama made it?

Honor the Name

Naming a restaurant after your grandmother is an act of love. The brand had to feel personal, warm, and rooted in family — not generic or corporate. Every design decision honored that intention.

Authentic Visual Tradition 

The folk floral patterns in the logo are inspired by traditional Mexican Otomi and Tenango embroidery art forms. The brand feels culturally rooted, not culturally appropriated.

A restaurant's brand has to start building an audience before the first taco is served. The Coming Soon banner gave the community something to be excited about — and gave the brand a head start on opening day.

Folk Art Meets Fiesta Spirit

The primary logo draws on Mexican folk art floral tradition — layered blooms in bold red, hot pink, cobalt blue, and olive green frame the wordmark above and below, with a bottom centerpiece flower completing the composition.

Before the doors opened, the Coming Soon Facebook banner was the first piece of branded content Huntingdon County saw. Deployed as both a Facebook cover photo and social media post, it announced the arrival of Mama Coyo's and began building a following from day one.
